About SOMA San Diego

SOMA is San Diego's flagship all-ages music venue, a two-stage room (Mainstage up to ~2,300, Sidestage ~500) housed in a former multiplex movie theater on Sports Arena Boulevard, directly across from Pechanga Arena. The building has been SOMA's home since 2002 — the venue's third incarnation since founder Len Paul opened the original location in 1986.

Programming is the through-line of San Diego's punk, hardcore, emo, and alternative scene — the room where Green Day, Blink-182, and a generation of Warped Tour bands cut their teeth. Today's calendar still books punk, hardcore, metal, emo, post-hardcore, and indie alongside hip-hop, ska, and alternative. The Sidestage handles locals and developing acts while Mainstage hosts national headliners.

SOMA's all-ages policy and four-decade independent run make it indispensable to under-21 music fans and to touring bands building a coast-to-coast itinerary — one of the longest continuously operating all-ages venues in California.
